Autumn treats: apples and CANDY CORN! (gluten free!)

local apple and candy corn.jpgAutumn means delicious, fresh apples (local, organic variety at 3 USD for 5lb — our remaining apple tree never produced and its heavily-producing buddy got blight)…

and CANDY CORN!

I don’t usually like ‘sugar candy.’ All candy is sugar but I mean the ones that are sugar for the sake of being sugar (pixie sticks, jelly bears, sour patch, nerds, starburst, etc.).

I make an exception as autumn turns and love me some candy corn. One bag is enough, though! I found these at the discount shop. -yay! They were 2USD cheaper

All of Jelly Belly’s candies (as far as I know, all ‘sugar’ candy, so not my usual choice) are gluten free, Parve and more!

EDIT: as a lot of people find my blog via searching if Brach’s Candy Corn (or Harvest mixes) are gluten free, let me help:

They’re not.

Sugar, Corn Syrup, Confectioner’s Glaze, Salt, Honey, Dextrose, Artificial Flavor, Gelatin, Titanium Dioxide Color, Yellow 6, Yellow 5, Red 3, Blue 1, Sesame Oil. Packaged On Equipment That Also Packages Products Containing Traces of Milk,Egg, Wheat, Peanuts, Tree Nuts and/Or Soy Protein.

orange=possibly contains gluten

red=that means gluten

  1. I could eat Candy Corn and it wouldn’t bother my IBS! Too much and it would bother my blood sugar, so moderation, moderation. 🙂 I need to get a bag and share it at work!

    Ooo, I’ll bet the Jelly Belly brand is tasty. I always liked Brach’s.

      Brach’s is fulla-gluten, so that could be your IBS issue…

      I can’t say that I actually like the flavour. I just HAVE to have it (not really, obviously, but it makes me happy–it’s Tradition!). Theirs is ‘vanilla’ and I’d prefer honey/ caramel but ya know. Since I only eat about 10 pcs, I’m good ;p

      • Oh, poopy Brach’s and their gluten. (ha, literally).
        Gluten isn’t necessarily a real issue for me. Certain types of fiber…lettuce…egads…I have been eating huge salads for years…no more…..
        But, I will get the Jelly Belly brand!

          I guessed the gluten because that’s about all it is: sugar, flavour, thickeners, ya know?

          I can’t digest broccoli or any sweet peppers but I can eat other things that would surprise you! I eat TONS of kale and it’s very fibrous. I did about 2 years of elimination testing and got tired of it. Dr released me from her care, said I definitely have the hang of it ;p

          I also can’t digest dairy and it’s NOT lactose. Humans are sure put together differently! I don’t go IBS, myself. It’s systemic. Like I had tomatoes 2 days ago and my left foot swelled up too big for my shoe. Bleurg.

  2. Mine is happily only IBS and pain pain pain! Joints, muscles, bones, hair…LOL. BUT, I sound so happy because it is very manageable with meds. I’m just on the right dose of everything. Ha.
