strange realisation: squirrel

Im looking at this, which arrived today, and it occurs to me: not everybody who sees this will think it’s food.

  1. Lol!
You are correct. Food would not be my first thought. Nor would “conservation” and “squirrels” in the same cover.
But, what does squirrel taste like? I know my grandpa hunted them. I’ve never had it.

    • Squirrel is good, better than rabbit IMO but if you have them fried on a plate together, hard to distinguish by sight.

I can’t fry mine (no flour works like wheat flour for frying) but I’ll parboil it.

It might taste a little like turkey dark meat?

  2. I will definitely take squirrel over rabbit, but you’re right, it’s not the first thing I think of when I see the squirrel picture. I do sometimes think that I’ll be set for the zombie apocalypse. My neighborhood is lousy with the little critters. Hey, maybe you should try acorn flour for frying …
