Badges? We don’t need no stinking… (look how old I am!)

I was looking through my record collection (that is to say, the vinyl that I still own, which is to say the shite cos I left these in the barn… the good stuff, I gave away because I re-purchased it in digital… duh) and found some old badges from when I used to set up sound systems and loaded cameras (back when a Photographer needed another pair of hands to crank the film roll into the case of a second camera, so he wouldn’t miss a shot).

I also found a library card from the next year. My hair was again dyed black yet I’d ‘rolled’ it around my temples, finishing in a bun in back. They were using the State of The Art Digital Imaging of the day. Looks like crap. I always said ‘Boy, can you see the immigrant in that photo!’

For ‘fun,’ I ran it through the ‘antique’ filter on Photo FX Studio.

That’s not 1893 but 1993! Not wearing makeup was also a mistake.

Bear in mind, all of these photos were snapped using my phone pointing at OLD badges covered in laminated plastic. Sorry for the blur and all but they don’t look very good in person, either. And I’m not talking about the subject.

The last one *is* me! I described how I’d rolled my hair around my head (was still braiding and wrapping it in a circlet around my head as late as 6 years ago–then got it in a bob and haven’t grown it out except into a baby-ponytail length since)? The sepia/ vignette is just a filter on that black and white one from 1993 but it’s all me, baby!

  1. You make me laugh.
    And you’re gorgeous, too.
    Jew fro. LOL.
I don’t know what you call my English/Irish limp, thin, stringy hair, except limp, thin and stringy.

Well, I’m 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Russian Jew, so there’s a scary premise.

When I got all perimenapausal, my hair went from fro/ringlets to frizzy/wavy (which I straighten like the dickens).

I’m HAPPY that the curls fecked off. What a problem they were!

I think everybody has issues with what they ‘received’ but people with straight hair have the option of wash and go. Me? I don’t like looking like a Caucasian Angela Davis. I straightened mine today and it’s still flipping up and out (like 4 inches from my head). My friend Cherie always says, ‘I LOVE your hair! How did you get it to DO that?’ She refuses to believe I didn’t want it to do this — that’s how CRAZY it is ;p

  2. So true that everyone has issues with what they have. I had one of those sales people that wander loose in the mall selling hair straighteners ask me how I got my hair so straight. I told him it was effortless and a gift from god.

  3. I think i’d be scared and fascinated (both) to find a similar drawer like that in my own house! It would be all receding hairlines and bad eyeglass fashion!

This *was* in the barn but yeah! I’m amazed at how much hair I had, too. I don’t like that it grew thin (not fine but SCALP) but I like not having to fight with it.
